about
It’s Bandcamp Friday (!) and to celebrate, we’ve released a performance of a song we have loved for a very long time.
It’s a cover of Mitski’s “Class of 2013”. This particular recording is filed under “B-Sides and Rarities” on our big dusty shelf, because it’s actually an outtake from a Soundcast Session we recorded in 2019. The stems from that session were lost, but a first bounce of the hours-long session was emailed around early in the process, and that bounce is from whence this version was chopped and snipped and shined up and rendered.
We’re glad we have it. It sounds like a very specific time in our lives, when this song would hit nerve and bone every time. You can hear it. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we do.
P.S Album three is in the bag and on the way and all that jazz. But more on that in the months to come!
Keep safe, keep well. Keep going!
All our love
Shannon and Evan
lyrics
Mom, I'm tired
Can I sleep in your house tonight?
Mom, is it alright
If I stay for a year or two?
Mom, I'll be quiet
It would be just to sleep at night
And I'll leave once I figure out
How to pay for my own life too
Mom, would you wash my back?
This once, and then we can forget
And I'll leave what I'm chasing
For the other girls to pursue
Mom, am I still young?
Can I dream for a few months more?
